Excercise ball workouts are great for core strengthening. By that I mean firming and toning the waistline muscles. What happens is such excercise ball workouts build the abs and lower back muscles resulting in improved core stability. Which are the big benefits of stability ball excercises Exercise balls are also great for increasing flexibility and balance too.

Workouts Work

It's simple really. The ball acts to make your body somewhat unstable. So to stay on the ball you have to tighten your legs and abs. That tightening is gives those muscles a bit of an extra workout they wouldn't get if you were working out on the floor.

Basically you are simply taking routines you would do on the floor and doing them on the stability ball instead.

For instance you can use the ball for overall abdominal training. Like you can combine that with an exercise like a crunch.

To turn the crunch into an excercise ball routine, simply drape yourself over the ball. Starting out by positioning the ball under your middle/lower back.

Cross your arms over your chest.

Draw in your abs to lift your upper torso off the ball. Point the bottom of you ribcage bottom toward your hips.

Lower and allow the abs to extend

Repeat for 12-15 reps.

Excercise Ball Workouts Tip: When you raise up don't agitate the ball. In other words make sure the ball is still and not rolling around under you.
