Faux Pas To Avoid When
Doing Tummy Exercises

• Breathe! Sounds silly, I know. But do not hold your breath when doing flat tummy exercises.

• Never pull on your head while doing tummy exercises. Let the right muscles do the work. That way the right midsection muscles will get the benefit. Besides pulling on your head is bad for your neck.
• At the start of the abdominal exercise, tighten your abs. Pretend you are trying to draw your belly button to the floor thru your back.

• Go for proper form over focusing on competing an arbitrary number of reps. Do as many reps as you can do well. Then stop.

• Along the same lines this isn't a race. So don't rush. Think quality not quantity. The longer your abdominals are "under load" the more you get out of each rep. Let the right muscles do the work.

Finally…

• Keep your lower back or lumbar region pressed on the floor. That will stabilize your midsection and give you more muscle tone and safer motion when exercising those abs.
